WORKS in PROGRESS
RAG MOUNT, Concept
This drawing for Rag Mount was
executed a month before the drawing for Bar Stool, however both were started
on the same weekend and completed on the same day. They are complementary
works, each expressing a personal aspect of my state of mind at the time.
I enjoy art through the process of making it. By making two very different
objects at the same time, a hard angular form and a soft rounded form, I was
able to invest each with intense energy. With Rag Mount, the act of tearing
up hundreds of feet of "African cloth" was significant because I
grew up in Africa and I had made my ex-wife's dresses from this cloth.
